Job Description
As an Industrial Electro-Mechanic at Cargill, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our Food & Beverage Operations within the Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management function. You will work on a wide range of production and packaging equipment, utilities, and facility systems, combining strong electrical and mechanical skills to keep our operations running smoothly and support Cargill’s commitment to safety, quality, and global food security. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electro-mechanical equipment, including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, packaging machinery, material handling systems, and process equipment. You will diagnose electrical issues in 480V 3-phase systems, motor control circuits, and PLC-controlled equipment, as well as address mechanical problems such as alignment, bearing failures, and component wear. Using your ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals, you will plan and execute repairs that minimize downtime and support continuous production. You will be responsible for performing preventive and predictive maintenance activities in alignment with Cargill’s asset management strategies. This includes inspecting equipment, identifying emerging issues, replacing worn components, lubricating and adjusting systems, and documenting all work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). By proactively maintaining critical assets, you will help improve reliability, extend equipment life, and reduce unplanned outages. Working closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams, you will support process improvements and equipment upgrades that enhance safety, productivity, and product quality. You may assist with equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning, ensuring that new or improved systems are integrated safely and effectively into the plant. Your work will directly contribute to Cargill’s focus on sustainable, efficient food production and innovation. Cargill’s culture emphasizes integrity, safety, inclusive growth, and continuous learning. As an Industrial Electro-Mechanic, you will model safe work behaviors every day, strictly following lockout/tagout, arc flash, and machine guarding requirements, as well as sanitation and food safety standards specific to food & beverage operations. You will participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and root cause analyses, and you will be encouraged to identify and share ideas that can improve safety and reliability across the facility. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will collaborate and communicate regularly with colleagues across shifts and departments. You will provide clear status updates on equipment conditions, document detailed maintenance records, and support training of operators or less experienced technicians where appropriate. Cargill fosters an environment where employees are encouraged to think independently, take ownership of their work, and contribute to team-based problem solving. Working at Cargill offers the opportunity to be part of a global leader in food products, agriculture, financial, and industrial offerings. In this position, you will directly support our mission to provide safe, sustainable food to people around the world. You will have opportunities to grow your skills through hands-on experience, exposure to diverse technologies in a modern food & beverage facility, and access to learning and development resources that support your long-term career in maintenance, engineering, or reliability. Cargill offers a competitive, full-time compensation package, typically including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement benefits such as a 401(k), and performance-based bonus opportunities, along with a culture that values safety, inclusion, and professional growth. This is an on-site, industrial plant role that may require rotating shifts, overtime, and on-call coverage to support 24/7 operations, and it is well-suited for an experienced, hands-on Industrial Electro-Mechanic who wants to make a tangible impact in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
