Infirmary Assistant

Job Summary:The Benedictine Sisters seek a full-time individual to assist in the care of six to seven sisters who reside in the infirmary at Sacred Heart Monastery.A full position description with application instructions may be viewed at shmon.org/employment.Other details are listed below.Job title:Infirmary Assistant Reports to:Health Care Manager or Infirmarian Status:Full Time (4 or 5 days per week, or 32-40 hours per week Starting pay:$15.00/hour starting salary Hours:Primary shift will be 6:00 am - 2:00 pm, with occasional coverage of evening or night shifts.Some shifts may be on the weekend.Job requirements Health care experience with senior adults strongly preferred Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with patient transfers and in-bed care is necessary Flexibility to occasionally cover other shifts.Job Responsibilities The key responsibilities are:Assist with personal care of sisters as needed (bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.) Measure and record vital signs, including blood glucose Light housekeeping duties (assigned by shift) for infirmary bedrooms and common areas Assist with mobility when needed (transferring from bed to chair, chair to walker, etc.) Dispense prescribed medications Serve meals to infirmary residents Foster a safe and peaceful environment for the sisters residing in the infirmary Communicate promptly any changes in a sister's health status to Health Care Manager or monastery leadership Collaborate with Health Care Manager and monastery leadership to ensure the needs of the infirmary residents are met Experience in caring for senior adults is strongly preferred.Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with patient transfers and in-bed care is necessary.Licensure or certification is not required.Training will be provided.Starting pay is $15/hour.For more information about this position or the application process, please call (256) 734-4622 and ask to speak with Cindy.Inquiries may also be sent to shmon@shmon.org or through the Indeed.com platform.
