Job Title: Information Technology Project Manager – Government / Healthcare Systems Modernization Location: Hybrid Remote – Pierre, SD / Sioux Falls, SD Work Arrangement: Mostly Remote | Quarterly Onsite Travel Required Employment Type: W2 or C2C Travel: Reimbursed per state guidelines We are hiring an experienced Information Technology Project Manager to support enterprise-level system modernization initiatives, including Medicaid and provider systems. This role will lead complex IT transformation projects, working closely with business, technical, vendor, and state teams to ensure successful delivery of critical healthcare and government technology systems. Key Responsibilities Lead enterprise IT implementation projects from planning through execution Manage cross-functional teams including business analysts, data analysts, developers, product owners, SMEs, and vendors Define, gather, and translate business and technical requirements Coordinate with Agile, Waterfall, and/or DevOps teams to support project delivery Oversee system modernization efforts, including Medicaid, MMIS, Provider Enrollment, or related healthcare IT systems Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget Establish and maintain project governance, controls, documentation, and reporting Provide regular status updates, risk management, and executive-level communication Support testing, validation, operational readiness, and implementation activities Mentor internal teams and support knowledge transfer to state staff Required Qualifications Experience managing IT projects, preferably in government, public sector, healthcare, or enterprise technology environments Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise technology solutions Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and/or DevOps Knowledge of project governance, PM best practices, risk management, and stakeholder communication Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, vendors, and project priorities Preferred Qualifications PMP certification or equivalent project management experience Experience with Medicaid systems, MMIS, Provider Enrollment systems, or healthcare IT platforms Experience with government or public sector technology projects Background in system modernization, digital transformation, or enterprise application implementation Work Arrangement This is a mostly remote role; however, candidates must be available for quarterly onsite travel to South Dakota , including Pierre and/or Sioux Falls. Travel expenses, including lodging, mileage, and meals, will be reimbursed per state guidelines.
