Senior Innovation Engineer — Emerging Technologies & Advanced Prototyping Join a technology innovation lab focused on pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in large-scale computing, AI, and next-generation software systems for the global energy sector. Focus Areas Candidates should bring hands-on expertise in at least two of the innovation lab’s core technical domains: Modern database architectures and large-scale data platforms Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), LLMs, and intelligent agent frameworks Distributed systems and large-scale service architectures Machine learning engineering and MLOps Cloud-native development and Kubernetes ecosystems High-volume data systems and advanced data workflows What You’ll Drive Define and champion innovation themes by identifying emerging technologies with meaningful long-term impact. Generate new solution concepts, guide technical explorations, and lead prototype development from idea to delivery. Collaborate with AI and ML specialists to integrate intelligent capabilities into broader system designs. Maintain deep knowledge of state-of-the-art methods, tools, and approaches — contributing expertise in reviews and technical forums. Share insights through internal talks, technical sessions, and knowledge-building workshops. Partner with cross-functional teams to build end-to-end software and data prototypes that address real-world challenges. Apply modern engineering practices across design, DevOps, testing, automation, and secure development. Offer mentorship and practical guidance to peers and emerging engineers within the technical community. Role Environment This is a highly visible, hands-on position with opportunities to collaborate with technical leaders and innovators across the organization and within broader technology ecosystems, including major industry partners. You will be expected to lead by building — not only guiding others but personally driving complex engineering efforts. Qualifications MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Science, or a closely related discipline. 15+ years of experience spanning cloud computing, distributed systems, ML engineering, NLP, data platforms, security, or related areas. Strong proficiency in modern software engineering practices and development tooling. Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Excellent communication skills — capable of sharing technical ideas clearly with diverse audiences. Compensation The expected annual salary range for this role is $142,400–$247,600, in alignment with applicable laws and reflective of the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. Benefits and compensation apply to candidates hired under a U.S.-based payroll structure.
