ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The quality of our school cannot exceed the quality of our teachers. In that spirit, we are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following “essential job duties” and responsibilities: Ensure a high level of academic rigor and consistency of classroom management practices across all classrooms in content area Co-teach and co-lesson plan with fellow content area teachers around rigorous instruction Collaborate with fellow content area teachers, special education staff, and school leadership to continuously improve and meet students' needs Conduct regular classroom observations within content area department; give and receive feedback to improve teacher practice Provide consistent, high-leverage, actionable feedback for teachers to improve practice Leverage diverse coaching strategies to support teacher development Build trust with teachers in service of supporting their development Consistently attend coaching meetings with AP of Academics to brainstorm solutions around coaching caseload Actively engage in professional development, including sharing strengths of practice with colleagues Give and receive feedback to improve practice, that of peers, and school leaders; maintain open, honest, and respectful communication Support teachers in content area department: plan and execute engaging, rigorous, and relevant lessons aligned to state standards Onboard new content area teachers during summer professional development Teach a model class, including grading, lesson planning, classroom management, long-term planning, and utilizing best practices Scaffold and differentiate lessons to support students toward independent mastery of content Maximize the number of students actively participating in class and depth of thinking, while maintaining a high bar for rigor Support advisory, tutorial, and elective activities Utilize a variety of rigorous, authentic assessments to collect and respond to student achievement data Support teachers in using data to inform instruction Support the Academic Counselor with the grading system and report cards compilation (within content area) Deliver excellent student supervision consistent with the age and abilities of students Set and hold high expectations for academics and behavior Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and classroom culture Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes; create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice Other duties as assigned by the Principal or an administrator PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance in order to perform essential functions of the role.
