JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach JOB DESCRIPTION: The Instructional Coach at Good Counsel High School serves as a mission-driven instructional leader who partners with faculty to strengthen teaching and learning in alignment with the school’s Catholic and Xaverian values. The Instructional Coach engages teachers in collaborative, non- evaluative coaching cycles that include classroom observation, co-planning, modeling of effective instructional strategies, analyzation of student data, and reflective feedback. The role prioritizes student-centered, data-informed practices that support diverse learners, including those in the Ryken Program, and advances excellence in curriculum design, assessment, and classroom engagement. Working in close collaboration with academic leadership and contributing to Professional Learning Teams, the Instructional Coach fosters a culture of continuous growth, professional inquiry, and shared accountability for student success across the school community. JOB TYPE: Faculty LOCATION: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School 17301 Old Vic. Blvd., Olney, MD 20832 SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Reports to Principal RESPONSIBILITIES: As an instructional coach, responsible for co-planning PD that promotes best pedagogical practices and for working directly with departments and teachers. As a teacher, responsible for lesson planning, teaching, and assessing skills and content. Also responsible for forming students in a manner consistent with a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School. The coach will also teach at maximum two classes. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in related content area required. Master’s Degree and state certification preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5-10 years of successful high school classroom teaching experience Ability to plan and deliver effective lesson plans, assess student learning, work as a member of a collaborative team, communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, enforce school policies, and follow school procedures. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading professional learning for adult educators Skilled in modeling lessons, co-teaching, and supporting differentiated instruction Proficiency with instructional technology Experience leading professional development sessions Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching, and continuous improvement REQUIRED WORK HOURS: Full-time, 10-month, exempt.
