JOB PLEASE NOTE: THE INSTRUCTOR HIRED FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE ASSIGNED TO TEACH EVENING COURSES (Teaching schedules are subject to change based upon the needs of the College) The Instructor, Nursing must advise students, provide quality classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction; maintain required scholastic records, and seek continuous improvement of the nursing curriculum, instruction, and resources. The instructor participates fully in the institutional planning and assessment processes and assists with managing a departmental budget. Primary teaching assignments will be in the Associate degree and Practical Nursing program. Secondary teaching assignment may be in the Nursing Assistant/Home Health Program. This position requires an adaptable and flexible work schedule which may include instructional assignments in day, evening and/or weekends.SALARY SCHEDULE PLACEMENT: Range of $46,590 - $94,363, based upon the Alabama Community College System and Shelton State Community College Salary Schedule D-1 to be determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience. This is a nine-month position with summer teaching availability dependent upon enrollment. The salary schedule for faculty requires 169 duty days for the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and, if employed for the summer, 56 duty days for the summer term. Applicant acknowledges that if selected for the position that applicant’s placement on the applicable salary schedule will be dependent upon the verified information provided by the applicant in accordance with the applicable work experience verification requirements stated herein. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate effective communication skillsFunction in accordance with the philosophy, rules and regulations of the college, nursing programs, and area clinical agenciesDesign each course and deliver each class in clinical practice, simulated laboratory, and nursing theory to ensure an effective learning experienceDevelop, implement, and teach courses using distance learning technology (i.e., internet, course management system, etc.), video courses, and courses taught via other non-traditional delivery methods as requiredMaintain a high level of competence and expertise in clinical practiceIncorporate current teaching techniques, subject area developments, and technology (if applicable) into the learning experiencePlan clinical rotation schedules to meet student-learning outcomesProvide simulated laboratory, clinical and/or theory instruction in accordance with approved course outlinesInform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance requirements, and academic progressProvide for effective evaluation of the learning experience of each studentMaintain necessary attendance, scholastic, and personnel records and submit all reports according to announced deadlinesPrepare and grade assignments, projects, and examinations as requiredSubmit to the Director a course plan for each course taughtParticipate in the planning of effective long-range goals for the departmentDemonstrate effective interpersonal skillsDemonstrate responsible work ethic (i.e., preparation and punctuality) with administration, faculty, staff, and studentsAssist with developing and managing of a departmental budget in support of the Annual PlanMaintain good working relationship with area clinical agencies and co-workersCollaborate with teaching teams in curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, revision, syllabi review, classroom, and clinical instructionAccept teaching assignments which may include day, evening, and weekend classes as well as off-campus sitesParticipate in recruiting for Nursing DepartmentServe as an academic advisor to assigned studentsParticipate in scheduled college and departmental meetings Demonstrate commitment to maintaining nursing accreditation standardsSecondary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy Participate in discussions and meetings about curriculum, teaching-learning techniques, and teaching materialsDemonstrate commitment to: Improving student retention and success challenging and cultivating student achievement beyond the classroom supporting a diverse population of learners working in a participatory and collegial setting supporting continuous improvement of curricula and services using technology and other innovative approaches to enhance the teaching/learning process participating in professional growth activitiesFunction as a faculty advisor to student organizationsOther Job Duties and Responsibilities: Comply with policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College Participate on division/college committees, teams, and task forces as requiredParticipate in professional development, compliance, performance excellence, and training activiti
