ANNOUNCMENT OF POSITION VACANCY ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: Working under the Director of Health Sciences and the Respiratory Therapy Program Director (PD), the Respiratory Therapy Program Director of Clinical Education (DCE) administrative responsibilities include: Providing effective leadership in developing, conducting, and ongoing assessment of the clinical education program; ensuring that, in all aspects, the program meets the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Standards. Educational responsibilities include continuous curriculum development and review as well as teaching. The (DCE) must work with the PD to ensure that clinical education for program students is coordinated with didactic and laboratory activities and is sufficient to meet program outcomes required by the Standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Director of Clinical Education role: Assess the efficiency and appropriateness of teaching methods and resources through established evaluation approaches. Have frequent, regular and consistent contact with students, clinical faculty, and clinical affiliates at all program locations. Contribute to the development, implementation evaluation, and revision of the curriculum and other program components to ensure the curriculum is up-to date and relevant. Assure student records are accurate and maintained. Assign students to clinical rotations. Promote positive relationships with service area hospitals, clinics, and agencies. Represent the Respiratory Therapy program by participating in faculty. Full-time instructor role: Teaching a course load of 9 credit hours per semester with 3 credits of release time allowed for director of clinical education responsibilities. A standard load is 12 credits/ semester or 24 credits per academic year. Plan and provide theoretical instruction and clinical or laboratory experiences that reflect an understanding of the respiratory therapy program's mission, objectives, and curriculum. Work with the PD to find, schedule, and provide clinical practicum coverage. Engage in ongoing professional development and training to both maintain and upgrade professional, instructional, and administrative abilities. Engage department, university, and community service activity appropriate to the discipline. Participate in academic advising and guidance of students while being sensitive to the needs of students from diverse populations. Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 Commensurate with education and experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits package: Minimum Qualifications Required: The DCE of an associate degree program: Must have earned at least a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license. Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care. Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/ preceptor for students of such programs. Must complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program (offered twice a year and must be completed within 24 months of the appointee’s assumption of the position).
