Job Description
POSITION : Integrated Communications Assistant LOCATION : Facility Services TERM OF EMPLOYMENT : 12 months PAY GRADE REPORTS TO: Integrated Communications Foreman KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Position Summary: The Integrated Communications Assistant supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of district/county communication, security, and low-voltage systems. This position assists in ensuring that communication and life-safety systems operate efficiently and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and operational standards. The employee works collaboratively with internal departments, contractors, vendors, and technical staff to support daily operations and system reliability. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of intercom and paging systems. Support general maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Help maintain intrusion detection, access control, and building security systems. Assist with sound system installation, maintenance, and portable sound support for meetings and events. Support the installation and maintenance of IP-based and analog CCTV systems. Troubleshoot communication and security system issues and assist with repairs, programming updates, and code management. Operate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, testing devices, and software-based management systems. Maintain accurate installation records, maintenance logs, inventory documentation, and service reports. Assist in coordinating work with technicians, contractors, and third-party vendors. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards including NEC, NFPA, and ADA requirements. Use computers and software applications for system programming, communication, documentation, and reporting. Communicate professionally with employees, vendors, contractors, and external partners regarding technical support and project coordination. Assist with structured cabling, low-voltage wiring, and related infrastructure projects. Perform other duties as assigned Desirable Skills: NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems Experience with software such as Auto DAD, Visio, and building automation interfaces OSHA 10/30 Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in low-voltage systems, communications systems, security systems, or related technical work preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
