Job Description The DPA Intern will support the Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) team with both administrative and laboratory-based activities that are critical to the successful execution of electronics qualification and failure analysis programs. This role provides exposure to high-reliability industries such as aerospace, military, automotive, and advanced electronics. The intern will initially focus on supporting DPA workflow operations, including incoming inspection, updating job logs and travelers, maintaining and organizing documentation, compiling reports, and assisting with shipping and receiving. As training progresses, the intern will have opportunities to work directly in the laboratory, supporting physical analysis activities and learning hands-on techniques used in DPA and failure analysis of electronic and semiconductor components. The internship is designed to provide progressive learning through job shadowing, on-the-job training (OJT), and increasing responsibility over time, with close mentorship from experienced DPA technicians, engineers, and team leaders. Key Responsibilities Include Supporting DPA administrative workflow (job intake, tracking, documentation, and records management) Updating job logs, travelers, and internal databases Assisting with sample handling, packing, shipping, and receiving Compiling and organizing technical reports and documentation Shadowing and supporting laboratory personnel during physical analysis and testing activities Gaining familiarity with DPA testing flows, terminology, and documentation requirements Learning and following laboratory procedures, safety practices, and quality standards Learning & Development Opportunities During the initial phase of the internship, the intern will shadow DPA administrators, technicians, and engineers to learn workflows, tools, and laboratory practices. Training will include daily on-the-job instruction covering documentation control, shipping/receiving processes, and job tracking. As competency develops, the intern will take on more independent responsibilities and may begin supporting basic laboratory tasks, such as assisting with optical inspection, X-ray inspection, and other DPA-related activities, based on performance and readiness. Throughout the program, experienced engineers and team leaders will provide guidance, mentorship, and feedback. The Intern Will Gain Understanding of DPA workflows and qualification testing programs (e.g., MIL-STD-based testing) Exposure to failure analysis and destructive physical analysis techniques Experience working in a professional laboratory environment with advanced equipment Insight into how laboratory services support customer innovation across multiple industries Qualifications This internship offers hands-on exposure to electronics qualification programs and laboratory operations within a professional failure analysis environment. No prior DPA or failure analysis experience is required; training will be provided.
