Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Irrigation Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, planning, and managing irrigation systems that optimize water usage and enhance agricultural productivity. Duties Develop comprehensive irrigation system designs utilizing AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, and other CAD tools to create precise mechanical and structural layouts. Plan and oversee project scheduling to ensure timely completion of irrigation projects from conception through implementation. Collaborate with farming teams to understand crop requirements and tailor irrigation solutions accordingly, incorporating best practices in agriculture. Conduct data collection and analysis to monitor system performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements for optimal water management. Manage project management tasks including budgeting, resource allocation, and coordination with contractors during construction phases. Utilize GIS technology for site analysis, mapping terrain features, soil types, and water sources to inform system design decisions. Oversee manufacturing processes related to irrigation components, ensuring mechanical knowledge aligns with project specifications. Perform mechanical design calculations related to pipe networks, pumps, valves, and other system components to ensure durability and efficiency. Lead installation activities on-site, ensuring adherence to safety standards and engineering specifications. Maintain detailed documentation of project progress, technical reports, and compliance records for future reference. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, or a related field with a focus on irrigation systems or farming technology. Proven experience in project scheduling, project management, and construction oversight within the irrigation or agricultural sector. Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Creo for mechanical design purposes. Familiarity with GIS applications for site analysis and data visualization. Knowledge of farming practices combined with mechanical engineering principles relevant to irrigation system design. Excellent data analysis skills for monitoring system performance and optimizing water distribution strategies. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes related to irrigation components and systems. Strong math skills essential for technical calculations involving hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and structural integrity. Ability to collect data efficiently in field environments and translate findings into actionable insights.
