Posting Details This position is located in the IT - Development Bureau in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within one (1) week of the closing date. The IT Applications Development Intern will develop a standardized data documentation and verification process that will leverage research and automation to generate an overview, data dictionary, entity relationship diagram (ERD), and APIs with yaml documentation. The intern will work with the development team to develop and document this process. The intern will then work collaboratively with bureaus and the librarian to accept and review data sets to be run through the data documentation and verification process. How does it get done? The intern will assist with the following: To fully leverage emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence, the department must ensure that its data assets meet the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and documentation. The development and deployment of AI enabled tools depend on robust data integrity and comprehensive metadata, yet current staffing levels do not allow for the focused attention these foundational tasks require. Establishing an intern position will provide dedicated support for data preparation, data validation, and metadata development, that will enhance data sharing, AI implementation, and application development. Through this internship, the agency will be able to develop a reproducible process for integration of disparate data sets into a modern AI friendly catalog. Data validation and verification will improve data integrity. The APIs and yaml documentation will enable data sharing across bureaus and with external partners. In turn, improved data sharing and documentation will assist with application development and the WATERS Modernization Project. Who are the customers? The Application Development Intern will be supervised by the IT Applications Manager and work closely with both the IT bureau and data owners. Minimum Qualification Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR completion of at least four (4) semesters (or equivalent) at an accredited college or university within the last two (2) years. Employment Requirements This position requires a valid ID or driver's license. The position will not drive a state vehicle. Working Conditions The position works in an office setting with extensive exposure to a work personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
