JOB The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for an IT Manager 1 in Reno, Carson City, and Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: Information Technology (IT). The IT Manager leads a mixed technical team consisting of C# full stack developers and systems engineers who support virtualization platforms, data domains, and Layer 3 network components. This role manages daily operations, assigns work, provides guidance to technical staff, and ensures that both application development and infrastructure environments operate securely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational goals. The manager is responsible for overseeing key initiatives, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time with strong technical quality. The ideal candidate is a proficient leader who can confidently engage in discussions across one or more of the following areas: full stack C# application development, virtualization and hypervisors, storage/data domains, or Layer 3 networking. Deep expertise in every discipline is not required; rather, the manager must be able to communicate effectively with specialists, make informed decisions, set priorities, and guide a team working across multiple technical domains. Strong experience supervising IT professionals and delivering complex technology projects is essential. Must maintain a valid NV Driver’s license. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, or applications analysis and development. Two years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Detailed knowledge of: the capabilities of various computer hardware and software products. Working knowledge of: current computer technology and trends, including information management, communications, networking data administration, data processing, systems design, programming, operations, and controls; supervisory practices. General knowledge of: budget preparation and control; project management; quality control. Ability to: administer multiple projects and allocate resources to each project; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; define complex problems, select the best course of action, assess costs and present alternatives; develop and implement procedures, formulate policies, and evaluate programs; establish work performance standards, review employee performance, and take appropriate action in order to optimize productivity; manage and administer change; train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.Recruiter Contact Information: Ana Maria Ornellas - aornellas@admin.nv.gov
