Description The IT Generalist / Systems Administrator is a hands on role responsible for managing and supporting all technology functions within a small to mid-sized logistics organization. This position supports office and remote staff, maintains on premises and cloud infrastructure, administers databases and applications, and ensures reliable, secure access to systems critical for logistics, dispatch, and business operations. This role is ideal for a self starting, adaptable IT professional who is comfortable working independently, prioritizing operational uptime, and supporting the full technology stack in a growing logistics environment. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities End User & Daily Operations Support Provide primary IT support for office staff, dispatchers, and remote/mobile users Support desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and basic networking Troubleshoot Windows OS, applications, connectivity, and hardware issues Set up and support Remote Desktop, VPN access, and basic remote management tools Server & Infrastructure Management Set up, manage, and maintain on premises and cloud based servers Administer Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, and group policies Manage file shares, backups, and basic disaster recovery procedures Maintain and monitor virtual machines (Hyper V, VMware, and/or Azure VMs) Database & SQL Support Write and maintain SQL scripts, queries, and reports Support databases used for logistics, dispatch, billing, reporting, or asset tracking Perform routine database maintenance, backups, restores, and performance checks Assist with data cleanup, migration, and validation Azure & Microsoft 365 Administration Administer Microsoft Azure resources appropriate for a small business environment Manage Microsoft 365 tenants including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune Create and manage user accounts, licenses, MFA, and access permissions Support email, collaboration, and document management systems Cloud & Data Migration Plan and execute database and server migrations from on premises systems to cloud platforms Assist in modernizing legacy systems while minimizing business disruption Document migration processes and system configurations Cybersecurity & IT Best Practices Implement basic cybersecurity protections such as endpoint security, MFA, access control, and patching Monitor systems for common security risks and suspicious activity Perform regular system updates and backups Promote safe technology practices among staff Website, Intranet & Application Support Maintain and update the company website and internal intranet (content, access, basic design updates) Support mobile and web applications used for logistics operations or internal processes Work with third party vendors or developers as needed Documentation & Vendor Coordination Maintain simple, practical documentation for systems and procedures Coordinate with IT vendors, software providers, and cloud service partners Recommend cost effective technology improvements ________________________________________ Required Technical Skills Strong general IT support skills across desktops, servers, and networks Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases Experience with Windows Server and virtualization Hands on administration of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 Experience migrating systems and databases to the cloud General understanding of cybersecurity best practices Familiarity with website and basic application management ________________________________________ Preferred Certifications (Nice To Have) Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Administrator CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ SQL Server or Azure database certifications (Equivalent real world experience is acceptable in lieu of certifications.) ________________________________________ Ideal Candidate Profile Comfortable being a primary IT resource, sharing the daily user and systems support tickets with a team of 2 Practical problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills Able to balance technical work with user support Cost conscious and operationally focused Clear communicator with non technical staff Organized, reliable, and able to prioritize effectively Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burleson
