About The Position Reporting to the Head of the IT Project Management Office (PMO), the IT Project Management Specialist leads the end-to-end planning, governance, and delivery of technology initiatives across the IT organization. This role partners closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and external vendors to translate business needs into structured execution plans, enforce best practices, and ensure alignment with the organization’s technology roadmap. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage timelines and resources, and drive successful project outcomes from initiation through operational handoff. Key Responsibilities Own the full project lifecycle across a portfolio that includes network infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, and enterprise software deployments, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to IT service standards. Support the IT strategic roadmap by identifying high‑priority initiatives and driving portfolio‑wide process standardization to improve delivery consistency. Lead discovery sessions to translate business and operational requirements into technical specifications, QA plans, and measurable success criteria. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, backlogs, technical artifacts, and runbooks. Oversee daily execution by managing sprint cadence, backlog prioritization, risks, dependencies, defects, and issue resolution while meeting quality benchmarks. Manage third‑party vendors by monitoring SLA performance, contract compliance, costs, and resource utilization. Proactively manage scope changes and technical dependencies, guiding teams through complex problem‑solving and ensuring smooth transitions to operations. Develop and present dashboards and reports that communicate project health, budgets, risks, and KPIs to leadership. Drive continuous improvement through post‑project reviews, incorporating lessons learned into future project frameworks. Support additional initiatives as needed, serving as a subject matter expert in technical project management governance. Desired Experience 4+ years of project management experience, preferably within an IT organization. Proven experience managing diverse IT initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades and enterprise software deployments, aligned to technical roadmaps and budgets. Strong background implementing standardized project workflows with integrated QA and service delivery metrics. Experience coordinating cross‑functional technical teams and vendors using hybrid Agile/Waterfall methodologies. Hands‑on experience with project management tools such as Monday.com, Jira, or similar platforms. Working knowledge of governance and structured project reporting. Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. PMP, CSM, or similar certification preferred. Skills & Attributes Strong understanding of software development and IT concepts, with the ability to translate technical details for non‑technical audiences. Experience applying IT standards, security, and architectural frameworks. Vendor management and third‑party delivery oversight experience. Ability to produce clear, data‑driven status updates and executive dashboards. Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, changing environment. Excellent planning, organization, time management, and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Monday.com). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
