Job Description
LAFOURCHE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD Title: Curriculum Facilitator Qualifications: Type A / Level 3 certificate Three years of professional experience within the last five Master’s degree preferred Minimum requirements as stated in SDE Bulletin 746 (as revised) Qualifications should not be established for the individual, but rather for the position. Reports To: Curriculum Supervisor Supervises: Curriculum Implementation Professional Development FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: See Lafourche Parish School Board Salary Schedule Performance Responsibilities The Curriculum Facilitator shall assist teachers in planning, facilitating and evaluating the learning progress of students in his/her identified area(s) of need. DOMAIN I: CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION The Curriculum Facilitator: provides professional development to teachers and administrators on the implementation of curriculum; assists in monitoring and the implementation of curriculum; assists schools/teachers in developing appropriate teacher-made student assessments to accurately reflect achievement of the objectives in the curriculum; models lessons and provides professional development to teachers regarding all strategies being implemented in schools; assists schools in implementing the Response to Intervention (RTI) model; assists administrators and teachers in developing and implementing classroom management plans and provides support, including classroom observations and feedback; assists teachers at the request of the school administration and/or teacher him/herself; serves as district level assistance designee for teachers placed on intensive assistance through the Lafourche Parish School Board Accountability program; provides support and assistance to new teachers on curriculum alignment and curriculum implementation. DOMAIN II: EVALUATION The Curriculum Facilitator: researches best practices for instruction and presents to school administrators and/or teachers; researches programs, materials, and staff development opportunities for schools as requested; assists administrators in collecting and interpreting data in the core curriculum focus areas; conducts walk-through observations with school administrators as requested; assists administrators in analyzing and interpreting student achievement data results to determine school-specific professional development needs; serves as district administrator for online programs used to support curriculum development; monitor on-line programs to ensure usage and/or program implementation. DOMAIN III: STAFF DEVELOPMENT The Curriculum Facilitator: provides new teachers in-services and follow-up classroom observations in association with Lafourche Parish New Teacher Induction Program; provide professional development to teachers for the implementation of the curriculum; provides specific professional development to schools as requested by school personnel during professional development days, team planning, and/or after school training sessions; provides professional development in test construction with an emphasis on incorporating literacy strategies across the curriculum; coordinates professional development to keep school personnel abreast of current trends and curriculum changes; seeks and provides resources to teachers and administrators for curriculum implementation; serves as Trainer of Trainers (TOT) for curriculum related programs and strategies; attends workshops, inservices, and conferences to gain insight and knowledge on curriculum related topics; supports schools in the design and delivery of research-based Professional Learning Communities. DOMAIN IV: PROFESSIONALISM The Curriculum Facilitator grows and develops through professional development as assigned and voluntarily to improve teaching and learning. Attends and constructively participates in meetings and professional development activities. Uses active listening skills. Accepts and recognizes the value of the contribution of others. The Curriculum Facilitator shows professionalism in attitude and conduct. Develops leadership and responsibility in colleagues and students if applicable. Demonstrates skills to receive and give constructive feedback. Identifies problems and issues and works collaboratively to contribute ideas and find solutions. Maintains communication with immediate supervisor, keeping him/her informed of problems, concerns, and significant developments
