K6 ParaprofessionalAbout MVRCSFounded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) in Malden, Massachusetts, serves more than 1,750 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Students in Grades K12 attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year, and the school day is extended by 60 minutes beyond that of most traditional public schools. Together, these elements allow MVRCS to fulfill its mission of providing every student with access to a world-class education.Job Summary: The K6 Paraprofessional plays an essential role in supporting classroom instruction and fostering a structured, productive learning environment. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, paraprofessionals provide instructional support, reinforce classroom expectations, and assist students in achieving academic success. Non-instructional responsibilities are supervised by the assigned Assistant director.Responsibilities: Support the daily structure and routines of the classroom while collaborating closely with the classroom teacher.Assist with classroom management using the schools assertive discipline model and redirection strategies.Uphold and model all school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations.Support small-group instruction and provide guidance during independent work periods.Reinforce strong learning posture by ensuring students remain attentive, prepared, engaged, and on task.Teach assigned reading, language, math, reasoning, writing, and/or spelling groups.Monitor student progress and provide additional support to students who have not yet achieved proficiency or mastery.Check, record, and/or grade student work as directed by the classroom teacher.Assist students with correcting assignments, reading tasks, and content-based questions.Track incomplete assignments and support students in completing required work.Administer checkouts, retests, and other assessments as directed by the teacher.Perform assigned duties, including morning arrival, lunch/recess supervision, and afternoon dismissal or bus duty.Attend Back to School Night and other required after-school events.Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the school.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by members of the Leadership Team.Requirements: High school diploma required.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to perform responsibilities in compliance with all school policies, state and federal regulations, and MVRCS requirements.Strong collaboration, instructional support, coaching, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced educational environment.Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment.This is an annual position subject to yearly evaluation.Equal Opportunity EmployerMystic Valley Regional Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.
