Ecotourism Kayak Guide (Housing Available!) Location: Door County, WI Start Date: May 18, 2026 (We are flexible with later start dates!) Key Responsibilities Lead guided kayak tours in Door County waters, ensuring guest safety and adherence to company procedures Provide clear paddling instruction and safety briefings for beginner to intermediate guests Deliver engaging storytelling, including local ecology, geology, and history Create a welcoming, high-energy environment from guest arrival through tour completion (greeting, orientation, and follow-up) Load, unload, and transport kayaks, paddles, and safety equipment Monitor weather conditions and adjust tours as needed Assist with daily operations including equipment setup, cleaning, and vehicle organization Capture photos and encourage positive guest experiences and reviews Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly (kayaks and gear) Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions (sun, wind, water exposure) Comfortable standing, paddling, and being active for extended periods Note: Similar kayak guide roles emphasize that this is a physically demanding job requiring heavy lifting and endurance Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Valid driver’s license required (for transporting guests and equipment) Strong customer service and communication skills Confident public speaker with the ability to engage diverse groups Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and safety-focused in dynamic outdoor settings CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Preferred Skills & Traits Background or interest in outdoor recreation, education, tourism, or environmental studies Experience in kayaking or guiding (not required but helpful) Energetic, outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills Ability to entertain, educate, and manage groups simultaneously Work Schedule Seasonal: Late May (training begins May 18) through mid-August to mid-September 30–50 hours per week, including weekends and holidays Compensation & Benefits Hourly wage + tips (tips can significantly increase earnings per tour) Subsidized / shared housing available Access to outdoor gear and pro-deals Free or discounted kayak tours for friends and family Opportunity for internships and college credit Pay: From $17.00 per hour Benefits Professional development assistance Relocation assistance Work Location: In person
