About us Little Tigers Learning Center is a family owned childcare center in Adel, Iowa. We have a passion for serving children and their families. We provide a safe, loving, and healthy learning environment for children ages 6 weeks through school age. $500 Hiring bonus, paid after 90 days of successful work completion! Job Summary : To cook and prepare healthy and balanced meals for each classroom Monday through Friday according to CACFP guidelines and standards. Job Duties: Accurate and timely preparation of all meals: breakfast, lunch, and snack each day for up to 140 children Measuring meals into appropriate portions per classroom based on CACFP serving size guidelines Providing proper utensils for measuring and serving each meal Maintaining accurate inventory of all food Preparing an order for ingredients or items needed one week in advance Ensuring all dishes, utensils, and kitchen appliances are washed and sanitized according to HHS requirements Maintain a healthy, sanitary and safe work environment Attend monthly team meetings after business hours on second Tuesday of every month Complete HHS requirements to maintain qualifications to work in a child care setting and maintain quality initiatives, such as training, physical exam, and background check. Qualifications: Fantastic interpersonal skills for working and communicating with a diverse group of adults and children Food preparation and cooking skills Servant leadership with a passion for excellence and a loving heart for children Experience in food service and kitchen operations in a school or business setting Knowledge of basic math for recipe measurements Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen Strong knife skills for food preparation Menu planning experience in an early childhood environment is preferred Stamina to stand for an 8 hour shift 5 days a week Able to lift, twist, push and pull bulk food containers (40-75 lbs) to receive and distribute food service orders Associate's degree prefered Skills Required: Knowledge of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, fractions, etc.) High degree of accuracy and efficiency in carrying out tasks Knowledge of various types of kitchen appliances and proper uses Creative outlook on cooking meals in differing forms Knowledge of food allergens and respect for food allergies in the environment Attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness of all duties within the kitchen Ability to manage time for cooking, cleaning, and other kitchen related tasks Must meet HHS background check requirements to work in a child care setting Work Location: One location Work Remotely: No Job Type: Full-time Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour Benefits Dental insurance Employee discount Health insurance Paid time off Referral program Vision insurance Shift: 8 hour shift Experience: Cooking: 1 year (Required) Kitchen management: 1 year (Required) Ability to Commute: Adel, IA 50003 (Required) Work Location: In person
