Job Summary: Support our kitchen and front team by prepping ingredients and assisting with key tasks in our halal Mediterranean restaurant. Key Responsibilities: Chop, portion, and marinate ingredients for daily service (e.g., veggies, spices, halal meats). Organize and label storage for halal compliance (dedicated containers, racks). Assist with cleaning, restocking, and basic assembly during slower periods. Help with order packing or register backup as needed. Follow safety protocols and log prep activities. Mandatory Qualifications & Experience: Entry-level OK; 6+ months in food handling or prep preferred. Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and ability to follow instructions. Physical stamina for standing, lifting 50 lbs, and repetitive tasks. Reliable and eager to learn. Preferred Qualifications & Experience: 1+ year in prep roles, with exposure to halal or Mediterranean ingredients. Experience in fast-casual settings with inventory tracking. Bilingual in English/Spanish to enhance team communication. Desired Education & Certifications: Vocational training or certificate from programs like Mercer County Technical Schools (MCTS) or Walnut Hill College; or high school diploma with on-the-job experience. Mandatory: ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or complete within 30 days). Preferred: Basic culinary accreditation from ACF or food safety courses from local community colleges.
