About The Anchor The Anchor is a small, independently owned cocktail bar and restaurant in New Haven, rooted in Caribbean-inspired flavors, creativity, and community. Our kitchen is tight-knit, fast-moving, and collaborative, where every person matters and every plate reflects who we are. We’re looking for cooks who take pride in their work, move with intention, and want to be part of building something, not just clocking in for a shift. Position Overview We’re looking for a dependable, experienced cook to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who works well in a small, fast-paced environment and is comfortable taking on multiple responsibilities during service. Responsibilities Prepare and execute menu items with consistency and attention to detail Assist with daily prep and station setup Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and workstations Follow all food safety and sanitation standards Support service across stations as needed Communicate effectively with team members during service Assist with breakdown and end-of-night cleaning Qualifications Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience required Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented mindset and willingness to step in wherever needed Ability to stay organized and composed under pressure Positive attitude, reliability, and accountability High level of professionalism—reliable, punctual, and consistent throughout shifts Ability to manage time effectively and remain present and engaged during service Requirements Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight Availability for evenings and weekends Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment Why Work With Us Small, supportive team where your work truly matters Opportunity to grow and contribute in a hands-on environment Creative, high-quality food program connected to a respected bar Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour Work Location: In person
