Job Description
The Urine Drug Screen (UDS) Lab Technician plays a critical role in supporting patient care and regulatory compliance within our pain management practice.This position is responsible for processing, and documenting urine drug screens in accordance with federal and state guidelines, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity in all testing procedures.The Lab Tech works closely with providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to support safe prescribing practices and high-quality patient care.Key Responsibilities Process specimens for in-office testing and/or outside laboratory confirmation.Conduct point-of-care (POC) urine drug screen testing using approved equipment and supplies.Accurately record and document results in the electronic health record (EHR) and laboratory logs.Communicate results to providers in a timely, confidential manner.Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CLIA, DEA, and state regulations.Ensure lab equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and stocked with necessary supplies.Educate patients on testing procedures when appropriate, while maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.Assist with audits, reporting, and quality assurance related to laboratory operations.Support the clinical team with additional administrative or clinical tasks as assigned.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or medical laboratory training preferred.Prior experience in a clinical or laboratory setting preferred, especially in pain management, toxicology, or substance monitoring.Knowledge of urine drug screen testing protocols, chain-of-custody requirements, and compliance standards.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow strict procedures.Proficiency with computers and electronic health records (EHR).Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient and team interactions.Working Conditions Full-time, onsite position in a clinical pain management office.May require standing, walking, and handling specimens for extended periods.Exposure to biohazard materials with required personal protective equipment (PPE).Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance options.Paid time off and holidays.Opportunities for training and professional growth.Job Type:Full-time Expected hours:30 per week Benefits:401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Safety equipment provided Vision insurance Work Location:In person.
