Job Description
Job Summary: The Labor and Employment Partner is responsible for leading and managing complex employment-related legal matters within a dynamic law firm environment. This role focuses on three primary areas: overseeing labor and employment litigation and dispute resolution, advising clients on workplace legal issues and compliance, and developing strategic, business-oriented solutions to support client objectives. This position plays a critical role in protecting client interests, mitigating risk, and delivering high-level legal counsel across a wide range of employment matters. Key Responsibilities: Manage and litigate a diverse caseload of labor and employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour claims Represent employers in state and federal courts, administrative agencies, mediations, and arbitration proceedings Handle class and collective actions, employment torts, contract disputes, and non-compete litigation Provide strategic legal counsel on employer-employee relationships, workplace policies, and compliance issues Defend clients in governmental and internal workplace investigations Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, contracts, company policies, and employee handbooks Develop case strategies and provide risk assessments and practical legal solutions Collaborate with internal legal teams and contribute to firm-wide practice development initiatives Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts Minimum Education & Experience Requirements: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school required Minimum of 7+ years of experience in labor and employment law Require an existing, portable book of business upon joining the firm. Significant experience in employment litigation and labor relations required Demonstrated experience representing employers in complex legal matters Special Requirements: Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction, in good standing Experience appearing before local, state, and federal administrative agencies Ability to manage multiple high-level matters in a fast-paced environment Willingness to participate in court proceedings, arbitrations, and negotiations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills with the ability to produce clear and effective work product In-depth knowledge of labor and employment laws, regulations, and litigation processes Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop strategic solutions Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills Strong organizational and case management abilities Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team High attention to detail and ability to meet demanding deadlines Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate others Sound judgment and strong problem-solving capabilities Additional Desired Characteristics: Experience with traditional labor matters, including labor arbitrations, collective bargaining, and unfair labor practice charges Familiarity with transactional matters involving labor and employment considerations Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development and client growth Proven track record of professional achievement and leadership Commitment to delivering high-quality client service and fostering long-term relationships Work Environment: This position operates within a professional law firm environment with a collaborative and team-oriented culture. The role may involve a hybrid work arrangement and requires the ability to manage a demanding workload with multiple priorities. Occasional extended hours may be necessary based on case demands and client needs.
