Position Summary In accordance with state laws and regulations; the Scale House Operator serves as the primary point of contact for customers entering and exiting the County Landfill.This position is responsible for accurately weighing inbound and outbound vehicles, assessing disposal fees in accordance with established rate structures, processing credit card and permit transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting efficient landfill operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate computerized truck scale system to accurately weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles Assess and apply disposal fees in accordance with approved county rate schedules Process credit card and permit transactions Verify, document, and categorize load types (municipal solid waste, green waste, construction debris, special waste, etc.) Maintain accurate daily records, logs, and required reports Monitor loads for prohibited or hazardous materials and report concerns in accordance with policy Coordinate with landfill operations staff to ensure proper traffic flow and disposal procedures Maintain organization and cleanliness of the scale house office Perform general clerical and administrative duties as assigned Shift Requirements This position requires participation in a part-time schedule to ensure full operational coverage of the landfill.This position operates on a rotational schedule designed to provide extended time off, consisting of four workdays followed by nine days off, with alternating weekend coverage.Work schedules may vary based on staffing levels, seasonal demands, and departmental needs.Flexibility to accommodate operational requirements is expected.Working Conditions Work is performed primarily within the scale house office with frequent interaction with landfill customers and staff Exposure to outdoor elements, noise, dust, and odors associated with landfill operations Extended periods of sitting with occasional standing and walking May require lifting up to 25 pounds This position requires adherence to established policies, procedures, and safety regulations while ensuring accurate documentation and operational continuity.Pay:$15.00 - $16.66 per hour Benefits:Safety equipment provided Shift availability:Day Shift (Required) Work Location:In person.
