Position Summary We are seeking an organized, proactive Landscape Procurement and Yard Manager to oversee our central yard operations, material purchasing, and crew logistics. This critical role bridges the gap between our design team, project managers, and field crews. You will ensure that premium materials for our high-end residential design-build projects and Maintenance accounts are sourced cost-effectively, tracked accurately, and staged efficiently for daily field operations. Key Responsibilities Sourcing & Procurement Source premium materials including specimen trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals from wholesale nurseries to match custom residential design specifications. Procure bulk hardscape supplies such as sand, various sized aggregates, and riverstone Negotiate vendor pricing and terms to secure competitive rates on high volume maintenance supplies like premium mulch, topsoil, grass seed, and fertilizers. Inspect incoming shipments to enforce strict quality control, rejecting subpar plant stock or damaged hardgoods before they reach job sites. Yard Management & Inventory Control Optimize yard layouts by establishing distinct, organized zones for bulk materials, hardscape pallets, tool storage, and green waste. Tag and segregate materials by specific client project names to keep design-build inventory organized and distinct from general stock. Maintain plant health while stock is held in the yard, overseeing daily watering, proper shading, and temporary care. Conduct routine inventory counts on high-turnover tools, safety gear, and daily installation consumables to prevent project delays. Logistics & Crew Support Stage project-specific kits the evening prior, ensuring pavers, components, and plants are palletized and ready for fast crew loading. Review daily pull-sheets with crew leaders every morning to verify exact material counts and tool requirements before departure. Coordinate morning dispatch to streamline truck flow, minimize yard bottlenecking, and get residential field crews on the road efficiently. Process job returns by inspecting, cleaning, and restocking unused stones, blocks, or plant materials brought back from completed job sites. Administration & Design Collaboration Reconcile vendor paperwork by matching delivery receipts with purchase orders and routing accurate invoices to the accounting department. Provide real-time updates to the landscape design and estimating teams regarding regional plant availability, nursery shortages, and material pricing shifts. Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in landscape yard management, nursery operations, or green industry procurement. Horticultural Knowledge: Strong familiarity with regional plant varieties, zone-appropriate nursery stock, and proper plant care practices. Equipment Skills: Proficiency operating wheel loaders and skid steers to safely unload commercial freight and move heavy pallets. Organizational Skills: Excellent communication skills to coordinate between designers, field crews, and external vendors simultaneously. Physical Demands: Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
