Laser Machine Operator Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing North is currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laser Machine Operator to join our sheet metal manufacturing team. As a Laser Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines. This role is critical to the accuracy, speed, and quality of our fabrication processes. Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing delivers end-to-end sheet metal manufacturing solutions-from initial concept and design to final production and assembly including laser, press brake, CNC machining, welding and assembly. We have multiple 5-axis Emmegi XT extrusion milling centers with a bed capacity of 30 feet, plus turrets, lasers, and more. Position Overview Perform typical laser cutting operations Select proper cutting programs, and proper fixtures. Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point. Make proper set-ups for cutting operations. Perform prescribed maintenance as required. Perform all dimensional inspections. Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor. May perform a variety of other tasks as production needs require. Qualifications Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and nesting/CAM software Strong understanding of sheet metal materials, thicknesses, and cutting characteristics Experience with multiple laser systems (e.g., Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic) Familiarity with lean manufacturing and process optimization Knowledge of ERP systems and production scheduling Basic understanding of G-code and CNC machine operations Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
