A lateral officer must hold an active Oregon DPSST Police Officer certification or a current valid Police Officer certification from another state and been employed as a certified Police Officer. Lateral Officers must meet the Oregon DPSST physical requirements and requirements of the department. Check out this video about the Grants Pass Police Department. Lateral Officers will be provided with duty related equipment. In addition to base salary, incentives available upon verification to Police Officers include: Associate Degree 2.5% Bachelor Degree 5% Second language 1.25% DPSST Intermediate Certificate 2.5% DPSST Advanced Certificate 4.0% (Associate and Bachelor Degree incentives are not cumulative.) Lateral Officer Incentives: Signing Bonus Upon Eligibility: $1,000 at the time of hire for a Lateral Officer with meeting the qualified years of experience as a sworn, full-time officer. Step at hire and accrual lump sums: Based on years worked as a sworn, full-time officer. Please inquire with Human Resources for more information. The residency requirement for the position of police officer is forty-five (45) minutes from City limits as it exists within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).
