Job Description
The Lead Accountant will be a key business partner, providing leadership and guidance to the local accounting teams, as well as the other accountants on the team. This position will play a key role in analyzing variances and identifying solutions, as well as in testing and implementation of new accounting systems. The Lead Accountant will lead the performance of more complex financial accounting activities including journal entries and account reconciliations along with preparing financial statements and reports. This position will be responsible for leading these activities timely and accurately in the monthly closing process activities in accordance with company accounting policies and GAAP. This role will perform advanced SOX controls as well as the review of recurring controls in compliance with company policy. This work will involve a high level of independent judgment and problem solving, accuracy, and initiative. The role will develop new processes and implement independently identified improvements. CORE FUNCTIONS Lead the more complex financial accounting activities; ensure financials are prepared, reconciled, and reported timely and accurately in accordance with company accounting policies and GAAP. o Prepare complex Balance Sheet reconciliations, along with review core reconciliations. o Lead creation of non-recurring and more complex journal entries, along with review of core entries. o Perform advanced SOX controls and review standard controls to ensure operating. Provide leadership to accountants across the organization, acting as a resource, proposing solutions and resolving questions. Lead testing and be a subject matter expert during accounting system implementations and upgrades. Understand, explain, and communicate monthly financial results along with identification and explanation of variances including business risks, drivers, and impacts. •
