Job Description Job Description Job Information Job Details Location: Eden Prairie, MN (Hybrid) Work Schedule: Hybrid (4 in-office days per week) Company: Optum Tech (UnitedHealth Group) Salary Range: $112,700 - $193,200 annually Job Title AI/ML Engineer / Tech Lead (Title inferred from responsibilities and qualifications) Primary Responsibilities Lead and implement AI/ML systems to derive information from patient data in a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective manner. Partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate business requirements into scalable AI systems. Leverage AI-assisted tools for design, implementation, code reviews, and testing. Ensure delivery of high-quality, maintainable code and specifications, leading by example. Drive architectural decisions and contribute to the long-term technical strategy for AI/ML systems. Own the full lifecycle of AI/ML initiatives: problem definition, data exploration, agent development, deployment, and monitoring. Stay ahead of emerging AI/ML technologies and promote a culture of innovation and data-driven decision-making. Act as a trusted technical advisor to management, stakeholders, and customers. Mentor and lead other engineers. Required Qualifications Education: BS with 7+ years of experience or MS with 5+ years in Computer Science or similar field. Programming: 4+ years of experience in Python. Cloud Infrastructure: 4+ years with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (GCP is a plus). AI/ML Tech: 4+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML infrastructure, tools, and platforms across the full stack. Leadership: 2+ years of experience in a team lead role. LLMs: 1+ years of experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs). Product Delivery: Proven track record of designing and delivering at least two complete AI products from ideation to release.
