Lead Baristas focus on executing the coffee experience at a high level, ensuring consistency in product quality, customer interaction, and café presentation. This role is fully floor-driven, supporting service flow and maintaining standards during each shift. You work closely with the team to ensure drinks are prepared with precision, service is efficient, and the café remains organized and aligned visually. Attention to detail, speed, and consistency are essential. This role is foundational to maintaining the daily quality and rhythm of the café. We'd love to hear from you! Reports to: Cafe Manager ROLE MINDSET: You lead through execution and overall awareness in the cafe. You take ownership of your station and support the flow of the entire café, ensuring speed, quality, and customer experience are always aligned. You are proactive in solving problems, supporting your team, and maintaining a calm, focused environment. You set the tone through your work ethic, attention to detail, and consistency on every shift. The Lead Barista is responsible for executing the coffee experience at the highest level during their shift. You work closely with the Cafe Manager, supporting daily operations while maintaining consistency in product quality, customer experience, and café presentation. You are a key presence on the floor, ensuring service runs smoothly and every detail reflects The Boy & The Bear’s standards. OUR FOCUS: Our operations are guided by three core principles: OCV (Overall Café Visuals) Clean, organized, and visually intentional at all times Customer Connection Warm, thoughtful service where every guest feels welcomed Product Quality Precision and consistency in every drink and presentation Your role is to execute these standards at all times on the floor. QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years experience in specialty coffee You are aligned with TB&TB’s of thoughtful design, care, and respect for coffee. Proven strong skills in espresso calibration, milk texture, Latte Art and manual brewing Consistent and clean latte art execution Warm customer service and communication skills Ability to maintain speed and quality in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive. Food Handler certification required. Availability for weekends and holidays GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES: Execute beverage preparation with precision, consistency, and speed Maintain excellent milk texture, espresso quality, and drink presentation Uphold OCV standards across the bar, pastry case, and all customer-facing areas Deliver warm, attentive, and professional customer service at all times Support service flow by organizing the team’s movement during the shift Ensure fast order turnaround times while maintaining product quality Engage customers through coffee-driven conversation and guidance Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized workspace throughout the shift Identify and solve operational issues in real time, escalating when needed Support team alignment by reinforcing standards and expectations on the floor.
