The Lead Connectivity Engineer, R&D provides engineering services to enable transmission and interoperability of biomedical images and image-related information between Hologic products, and with non-Hologic products in the clinical environment such as PACS. This role is responsible for daily operations and oversight of product interoperability requirements, for example, based on DICOM Standard services, and define standard connectivity model for Hologic product platforms. Leads projects or performs work related to network image management, network image interpretation management, network print management, imaging procedure management and off-line storage media management. Ensures products are compliantly and flawlessly integrated and able to interface with other Information Systems providing for shared management of patient, procedure, and results information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain and expand on an expert level of understanding of our products and their use in clinical practice, using this knowledge for successful interoperability with other medical devices or information systems within business interests and judicious effort spent working with or influencing other vendors. Maintain proficiency in DICOM, IHE, and other integration technologies and contribute this knowledge to the design and implementation of projects and products. Recognized cross functionally as a go to technical expert and acts as lead for assigned products. Identify and lead complex technical projects. Functions as a subject matter expert for relevant areas of expertise. Contribute technical leadership and expertise to the design and specification of function, features, and interoperability capabilities related to product and project assignments. Ensure connectivity designs and implementations comply with cybersecurity requirements, data protection regulations, and security standards. Contribute to product development efforts regarding interoperability requirements, design elements, and integrated operations. Provide third-tier escalation support for service calls pertaining to interoperability related issues and is accountable for the identification, diagnosis, prioritization, and correction of technical issues. Conduct root cause analysis of interoperability issues reported and implement and track solid corrective actions to reduce defects and failures or optimize and streamline manufacturing processes. Ensure that requirements, design implementation, test and maintenance methods/processes are developed as well as executed in a manner which supports all company quality standards. Drive continuous improvement of integrated operation which may include design changes, documentation, process improvement, or relationship building with other medical device vendors. Responsible for building lab environments and identifying tools for increasing efficiency of the Connectivity team. Educate sales and service force on applicable interoperability topics and issues. Present topics related to specific areas of expertise to customer groups, internal groups, and industry groups. Keep Hologic aware of technology and industry trends with respect to interoperability related issues. Provide consistent, dependable guidance and mentoring to lower-level engineers to promote learning, development, and knowledge transfer. Attend industry meetings and represent Hologic interests by keeping abreast of activities in the industry with respect to DICOM and HL7 standard updates, and new development by Mammography Tracking Software and Enterprise Imaging Software providers. Actively initiates collaboration with Engineering, Field Service Engineers, Clinical Applications Specialists, Technical Support, and other vendors of medical systems to successfully install Hologic networked products to meet customer expectations for equipment performance. Establish collaborative relationships with all stakeholders and create links with experts within the Hologic network and outside. Lead collaborative efforts and the building of interorganizational networks.
