Seeking experienced lead line cook for fun, casual neighborhood restaurant in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Duties will include: -working am/brunch shifts -working pm/dinner shifts -working every weekend, including Friday, Saturday, & Sunday -prep work for service menus, snacks, and specials -working with other team members to maintain kitchen pars & communicating purchasing or stock needs -execution of given recipes (with guidance given by manager, owner, or chef) -regular weekly cleaning of various kitchen equipment like fryers, stoves, flattops, hoods -washing your own dishes, when it's not busy -regular spot cleaning as you work (ie: sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and keeping your workspace clean and organized) maintaing DOH cleanliness and food service standards as required by law -MUST have DOH food handler's certificate at start of employment About us: Edie Jo's Restaurant in Prospect Lefferts Gardens is hiring and looking for experienced line cooks! Work with an easy going, yet dedicated and professional team in providing delicious options for our neighborhood. We're an owner-operated, local spot with an eye on hospitality, seasonality, and sustainability. The menu changes quarterly, and we work hard to provide better than average comfort foods. Menu is new American. Think burgers, grilled fishes, veggie risotto, various preparations of other meats and seafood, and usually a special or two every month. We are open Tuesday to Sunday for coffee, cocktails, and snacks, as well as morning brunch and evening dinner. (We are currently closed all day Monday & Sunday evening, though this may change as we get busier.) Kitchen Hours: -Tuesday to Friday 12pm-12am -Saturday & Sunday 10am-12am (Brunch until 4pm, Dinner 4pm-10pm, late night menu 10pm-12am, & all day snacks) Must Have Qualifications: -Full time availability (hiring immediately). -Experience working the hot line and stacking orders for speed. -Experience calling orders to other positions -Experience doing inventory -Experience maintaining pars -New York DOH food handler's certification/card -Ability to follow safe food handling guidelines -Ability to recognize allergens and prepare food in safe ways to avoid cross-contamination -Must be able to stand 8+ hours & lift 50+ pounds -Must be able to perform repetitive actions with hands -Must be able to work with kitchen machinery, handling dangerously hot and sharp things with caution and care -Must be able to bend, kneel, reach and go up and down stairs -Must be able to speak some English and Spanish -Must be 21 years or older -Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 -MUST BE ABLE TO WORK FRIDAY, SATURDAY, & SUNDAY CONSISTENTLY. Full weekend availability required.
