Lead Medical Assistant - JP Clinic Admin - Full Time RETENTION BONUS ELIGIBLE! POSITION SUMMARY Provide comfortable, safe and professional care for the clinic patient, infant through geriatric. Maintain an efficient flow of patients for the clinician. Working knowledge of all equipment and all required QA checks. Stocks supplies and orders appropriately. Schedules patients for testing procedures and ensures all test results and reports are scanned in the patient chart prior to the appointment. The position is responsible to ensure CVH medical assistants are trained and competent in all clinical skills performed by medical assistants in CVH clinic settings. The position is responsible to stay current regarding changes in medical assistant's scope of practice. The Lead Medical Assistant must maintain, and update as needed, a training manual and a training program for all medical assistants within the ambulatory clinics. The position is responsible for developing and coordinating up-to-date in-service classes for existing medical assistants related to all competency-based clinical skills. Upon completion of all new and existing medical assistant training and/or competency assessments, the Lead Medical Assistant must provide the medical assistant and his or her director supervisor/manager with a signed copy of the medical assistant's competency assessment. This position is responsible to assist the manager in daily duties which include but are not limited to developing work schedules, work station schedules, addressing employee productivity, etc. This position is responsible to assist the manager when necessary when an employee had an unscheduled absence, and has the authority to find appropriate coverage following clinics budgetary guidelines and determining whether or not patient volume warrants replacement coverage. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Certification Required Must be a Registered or Certified Medical Assistant: certification as a Medical Assistant by AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT Current BLS Certification EPIC Certified Ambulatory Medical Assistant Trainer License Required: Office Lab Assistant license Minimum Work Experience: Reading, writing, organizing, and filing skills. Patient centered care Patient centered medical home (Knowledge of or experience) Professional phone etiquette. Customer service skills. Computer and word processing skills. Must be able to receive direction and correctly assess employee training/skill needs, and determine when consultation is required. Must be an Epic Ambulatory Certified Trainer. The leadership and collaboration skills such as role modeling, coaching, monitoring, and promotion of team work in the development of the medical assistant staff. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Patient Care Assists the physicians and providers by collecting patient vital signs and other pertinent data. Escorts the patients to exam rooms, takes weight and vital signs and assists in determining medical problem. Obtains brief medical history to include age, date of birth, chief complaint, current medications with dosage and allergies. Assists physicians with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Sterilizes and sets up Instruments. Prepares examination rooms and instruments. Stocks supplies Effectively provides explanations and educates patients, families regarding treatments and interventions. Schedules patients for testing procedures. Obtains test results and ensures that Jab reports, x-rays and other information is in the medical record prior to the appointment and filed according to office guidelines. Authorizes and faxes to pharmacy requests for refills. Ensures routine medical office duties are completed as assigned, to include, emptying waste baskets, cleaning and disinfecting room counters and exam tables, ordering medical supplies, equipment controls - daily, weekly, and monthly. Ensures that all aspects of patient care and observations are documented, accurately and timely Leadership/Departmental Support Takes the Initiative to assist medical assistants when volumes dictate. Resolves department issues independently on a daily basis. Finds coverage for staffing shortages. Acts as a system coordinator when employee or system issues arise. Training Coordinates training for all new medical assistants in Ambulatory Services on Ambulatory Services Division clinical processes and workflows.
