Position Overview – Lead Restoration Mitigation Technician As a Lead Restoration Mitigation Technician, you will help oversee mitigation projects from the field level while leading technicians through emergency response, structural drying, demolition, cleanup, and restoration preparation. Mitigation is the first and most critical step in the restoration process, and your leadership directly impacts job quality, customer experience, team performance, and how quickly properties can be restored. This is an active field leadership position ideal for someone with prior restoration experience who enjoys leading by example, mentoring technicians, solving problems, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Leading crews on water damage, fire damage, mold remediation, biohazard, and emergency mitigation projects Performing water extraction, structural drying, demolition, cleanup, and job site preparation Setting up and monitoring drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers Taking moisture readings and documenting drying progress accurately Following scopes of work, timelines, and mitigation protocols Communicating daily with Project Managers, customers, and team members Training and mentoring mitigation technicians in the field Maintaining job quality, organization, safety, and professionalism on every project Documenting photos, notes, and job progress throughout the mitigation process Participating in a rotating on-call schedule for evenings and weekends scheduled in advance Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of mitigation or restoration experience required IICRC certification strongly preferred Valid driver’s license required Clean driving record required Ability to pass a background check and drug test Reliable transportation not dependent on public transit Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work in full PPE including bunny suit and full-face respirator Comfort working in residential and commercial properties Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to lead professionally in the field Ability to participate in required rotating on-call schedule Preferred Qualifications (Bonus, Not Required) Experience leading restoration or mitigation crews Experience with moisture mapping and drying documentation Experience in demolition, construction, remodeling, or contents handling Experience using restoration software such as Company Cam, Encircle, etc Xactimate estimating experience (Xactimate certifications earn automatic raises) Additional IICRC certifications including WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT, etc. (Certifications are preferred and earn automatic raises) Why Work at Austin Fire & Flood?
