What You’ll Be Doing You'll work with a highly talented and collaborative team to develop Outsmart's math learning experience from curriculum architecture through content creation, assessment design, and learner feedback loops. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow learning designers to build rigorous, engaging, and scalable math courses that bring joy back to learning. As an AI-native company, you'll also shape how AI tools and data insights are woven into curriculum development, content generation, and continuous improvement. Who You Are Recent PhD grad in Math Education, or a closely related field Teaching experience in undergraduate mathematics (as instructor, TA, or course designer) Strong pedagogical content knowledge — you can break down complex math concepts into clear, scaffolded learning sequences Comfort with technology and eagerness to learn AI-assisted content tools and workflows Familiarity with learning standards and frameworks (e.g., CCSS, NCTM practices) is a plus Collaborative and low-ego — you give and receive feedback well and enjoy working across disciplines Bonus: experience with edtech platforms, app-based learning, data analysis, or curriculum research What You’ll Work On Course content development — author and refine lessons, exercises, and problem sets across the math sequence in partnership with the Senior Learning Designer Assessment creation — build formative and summative assessments that measure proficiency and surface actionable learner insights AI-assisted content workflows — use and help improve AI tools for content generation, review, and quality control Content quality and accuracy — proofread, test, and validate math content for correctness, clarity, and pedagogical soundness Learner data review — analyze how students interact with your content and use those insights to iterate Documentation — contribute to course specs, style guides, and internal standards that keep the team aligned What Helps You Succeed You're curious and adaptable — excited to apply your research skills in a fast-moving product environment You balance depth of knowledge with a willingness to learn new tools, workflows, and ways of working You communicate with clarity and are energized by cross-functional collaboration You take initiative and don't wait to be told what to improve You're passionate about making math accessible and even enjoyable for a wide range of learners You see your PhD not as a finish line but as a launchpad Salary Range: $90K–$120K Perks Competitive salary and equity Healthcare for you and your dependents (medical, dental, and vision) Parental leave for any full-time employee who has been with us for at least 6 months (birthing, non-birthing, and adoptive parents) 15 PTO days per year, a winter break, and 12+ paid company holidays per year Remote work days Lunch provided in-office daily Working with super talented people who want to make a difference in the world Outsmart is committed to building an equitable and inclusive workplace and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
