Job Description
Allensworth, a busy and growing commercial construction law firm, seeks a full-time Legal Assistant in its downtown Austin office. Summary of Responsibilities The ideal candidate is energetic, positive, proactive, and process-driven, can take initiative and direction in a team-oriented environment, and is comfortable working at a fast-paced, busy law firm. Working in close partnership with our attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff, the Legal Assistant will have the following key responsibilities: Run conflict checks. Prepare conflict waivers from templates as requested. Prepare client engagement letters from form templates and follow-thru to client signature. Open new client files. Maintain client files, including set up and ongoing filing and saving electronic files to client files and folders. Download local rules from court websites and save to new litigation files and build and maintain case docket sheet. Process outgoing mail, including certified mail return receipt cards. Locate documents saved to files when requested by attorney or paralegal. Book travel for attorneys. Submit invoices and receipts for payment or reimbursement. Arrange court reporters for depositions. Set up conference calls by Teams/Zoom or conference line. Arrange and coordinate meetings. Assist attorneys with CLE registrations and reporting. Perform overflow work, special projects, and research on an as-needed basis. Perform electronic filings with the court. Desired Skills and Characteristics: Highly detail-oriented and adept at maneuvering between multiple projects seamlessly. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills; understands importance of listening, managing relationships, and dealing with conflict. Comfortable working with a variety of constituencies including attorneys, paralegals, vendors, and clients. Excellent time management skills. Professional discretion. Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work autonomously, meet deadlines, exercise independent decision-making, handle complex issues and set priorities in a fast-paced environment. Understands when to escalate issues with supervisor or other leaders in the organization. Requirements B.A. preferred or equivalent experience; litigation experience preferred Qualified candidates will have excellent writing, communication, time-management, and organizational skills Candidates should possess a strong attention to detail, exhibit a polished, professional, friendly demeanor, and work well in a team environment Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, Teams/Zoom/etc., and time-keeping system required This job may include lifting items up to 50 pounds Compensation/Benefits: Competitive salary, health, dental, 401K, paid vacation/sick leave, parking stipend, downtown Austin office space with Class A amenities, including gym access.
