Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to support attorneys across a diverse range of practice areas, including estate planning, environmental law, family law, litigation, and more. As a Legal Assistant, you will be instrumental in managing legal documents, conducting research, coordinating case files, and providing exceptional administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our law office. Responsibilities Assist attorneys with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather pertinent case law, statutes, and regulations. Prepare and review legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail. Manage case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw, ensuring all records are organized and up-to-date. Conduct document review and proofreading to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards. Support project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal initiatives, coordinating deadlines and tracking progress. Perform data entry and filing of legal documents while maintaining confidentiality and security standards. Provide administrative assistance including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, handling phone inquiries with professional etiquette, and supporting attorney workflow. Conduct legal research across various practice areas such as landlord-tenant law, securities law, tribal regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, immigration law, family law, UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), and environmental law. Draft memos, summaries, and other legal writings to assist attorneys in case preparation. Transcribe dictations or recorded interviews accurately for case documentation purposes. Requirements Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal within a busy law office environment. Strong knowledge of legal administrative processes including document review, filing systems, and case management software such as iManage or PCLaw. Familiarity with multiple practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, litigation procedures, securities law, tribal regulations, patent law, and workers' compensation is highly desirable. Excellent research skills utilizing Westlaw and LexisNexis to locate relevant legal information efficiently. Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with clarity and professionalism. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy. Proficiency in legal document management systems and data entry tools. Strong proofreading abilities coupled with keen attention to detail. Effective communication skills with courteous phone etiquette and the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
