Location:Erie 1 BOCES Technology Services TS Library Automation West Seneca, NYHours:8:00AM - 4:00PM Hourly Rate:$32.87/hr PLUS generous benefits package Annual Education Stipend:$1500 for Masters Degree Generous Benefits Package including but not limited to the following:Employment - Erie 1 BOCES 15 Paid annual Holidays Generous Paid Personal/Sick time Generous Paid vacation days Premium Health and Dental plans (E1B pays 85%) Life insurance at NO cost to you FSA plan Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion NYS Retirement System 403b AND 457 retirement plans Job Responsibilities:The Librarian II, working in conjunction with the Library Services Coordinator, is responsible for record management and program troubleshooting for schools participating in the Regional Library Automation service.Activities include software/data installation, record maintenance, record ordering assistance to district participants, provision of telephone/on line assistance of supported programs, and basic instruction/review of automation processes.User Related Duties Installs library automation software and the library database of MARC records.Assists the Library Services Coordinator in responding to application questions/problems.Assists schools with preparation questions regarding ordering MARC records, barcoding instructions and conversion instructions.Provides telephone/on line support to participating libraries.Documents support given to participants and updates client files.Conducts basic level training sessions for supported library automation software as needed.School Library System (SLS)/WNYRIC Duties Works with SLS and WNYRIC personnel on improving and developing library automation services.Assists with Union Catalog - record management and web page development.Assists with School Library System activities under the supervision of the School Library System Director.Performs on line database searches as needed.Other duties may be assigned that are relevant to the civil service job description for this title.Job Qualifications Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:Must hold permanent status as a Librarian II or; Must be reachable on current Librarian II civil service list or; Must meet qualifications for a provisional appointment as follows:A) Master's degree from a library school that is accredited by the American Library Association or registered by the New York State Education Department and two subsequent years of satisfactory professional library experience in a library of recognized standing; or and equivalent combination of training and experience approved by the Public Librarian's Certification Examination Committee of the New York State Education Department.Special Requirements for Acceptance or Applications:Eligibility for a New York State Public Librarian's Professional Certificate at time of application for appointment; possession of certificate at the time of appointment.Additional Qualifications:Strong experience in library automation systems, MARC records, local area networks (LANs), microcomputer databases, and school library media centers.The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to manage and support integrated library systems while ensuring accurate cataloging, efficient access to resources, and reliable technology operations within a school library environment.APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH MAY 19, 2026 Position Start Date:06/01/2026 Application Deadline:05/19/2026 Civil Service Title:Librarian II Job Number:0526-0003.
