Summary:The librarian oversees the WGU Library.Academic librarianship is people-focused, managing learning resources while keeping students' needs at the center.Duties and Responsibilities: Selecting, developing, cataloging, and classifying library resources. Answering readers' inquiries. Using library systems and specialist applications. Managing staff, including recruitment, training, and supervision. Liaising with academic departments, external organizations, and suppliers. Ensuring library services meet the needs of all academic programs, staff, postgraduates, and ADA regulations. Managing the WGU Library budget and resources. Supporting independent research and learning. Developing IT facilities. Assisting students and staff with computer use, literature searches, and library resources. Serving as the operational lead responsible for all library functions. Coordinating with the Associate Academic Dean on library policies and procedures. Submitting acquisition suggestions and requests to the Associate Academic Dean. Processing library acquisitions with appropriate cataloging in consultation with the Library Director. Directing the use and organization of the online catalog upholding high cataloging standards in academic librarianship. Maintaining bibliographic control using authorized subject headings/classifications (Library of Congress or National Library of Theology). Overseeing circulation of instructional materials in accordance with policies and practices. Reviewing and reporting issues with database acquisitions and instructional technology.Maintaining data control and generating statistics for library reports. Coordinating with faculty and WGU units on supply orders and book/title acquisitions in collaboration with the Associate Academic Dean. Representing the library's mission to WGU constituents and providing orientations for students and faculty. Administering overall budget and operations as directed by the Academic Dean and/or the President.Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in Library Science (MLIS/MLS) or other related discipline required.Experience in academic library services.Knowledge of cataloging systems (e.g., Library of Congress).Experience with research databases and library systems.Supervisory and budget management experience preferred.Other:Carry out any other duties assigned by the Academic Dean.Pay:$3,000.00 - $4,000.00 per month Work Location:In person.
