The Central Library offers a chance to experience the exciting pace of a large urban library with many opportunities to explore and grow. About Our Position Become a Library Assistant II with Central Circulating Services at Denver Public Library’s Central Library! As part of the Circulating Services team, you will serve in a dynamic location both on the front lines as the face of library circulation as well as behind the scenes as the hub for materials processing for the entire library system. You’ll be spending most of your time at customer-facing service points, interacting with a diverse population while using a trauma-informed lens and creating a welcoming library space where all are free to explore and connect. You’ll create positive experiences for library customers by checking out and returning materials, registering customers for library cards, placing requests for DPL items as well as materials from other agencies and responding to customer questions about using library resources and locating library materials. You’ll use library technology and other mechanical tools to efficiently process and route library materials with accuracy and attention to detail, while staying current on library trends, policy and procedures, especially those relating to circulation. You may assist with shelving, collection maintenance, and outreach projects as requested. You’ll grow as you support the library's goal of being a learning organization by participating in approved learning opportunities and projects that support the Library's mission, vision and values and goals. By communicating effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, staff and administration, you’ll help recognize your colleague’s strengths and contributions and foster relationships with colleagues throughout DPL.
