The benefits for this position include sick, vacation, personal business, and holiday time.In addition, JDL has an excellent Employee Assistance Program as well as tax deferred savings plan and Assurity voluntary insurance available.Associates Degree Preferred Cover letter is appreciated.EOE 26-018 Hours/week 25 Hourly rate 19.58 Closing date May 14, 2026 JOB DESCRIPTION Title:LIBRARY ASSISTANT II Reports to:Branch Manager, Department Coordinator, or Department Manager Status:Full or Part time/non-exempt Nature of Work Under the direction of the Branch Manager, Department Coordinator, or Department Manager, provides leadership and specialized support for patrons and staff, in addition to the level of assistance expected of Library Assistant I staff.Acts as a resource for staff and patrons, is an enthusiastic leader in the organization, works on specialized or complex departmental projects, and promotes library services to the community.Helping is in the nature of this role.Examples of Work Provides leadership, instruction, and specialized support for staff and public Expert at modeling a positive customer service attitude Participates in and facilitates workgroups Demonstrates knowledge of specialized computer software, library databases, and digital resources Shares knowledge and expertise Assists with strengthening community connections through outreach, events, and community engagement Provides specialized problem solving and troubleshooting of equipment, hardware, and software Enjoys working independently, public speaking, and public interaction Maintains and updates specialized databases, files, and indexes Assists patrons in various aspects of library use both in person and virtually Checks materials in and out Assists patrons in placing requests for library materials Answers reference questions Issues library cards Processes interlibrary loan materials and requests Monitors and assists with use of computers, mobile devices, tablets, and e-readers Works on departmental and branch projects as assigned by management or as temporary work loads dictate Plans, presents, and assists with all JDL activities, classes, displays, and outreach Performs clerical and support functions within the department Processes incoming and outgoing materials Assists in collection maintenance projects Performs data entry, and compiles and maintains statistical information Performs a variety of services to assist in the efficient and effective operation of the Library Makes recommendations regarding collection maintenance Keeps library materials organized, shelved, and neatly arranged Reads shelves and conducts inventories Helps patrons and staff with problem solving and basic troubleshooting of equipment, hardware, and software Performs specific ongoing tasks such as basic housekeeping and grounds keeping functions, mailroom duties, drop box duties, materials rotations, creating/designing displays, etc.Works and cross trains with other staff, branches, and departments Knows and follows library procedures and polices Drafts and maintains branch or department procedures Willingness and ability to travel offsite for library activities The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties.Employment Qualifications Associates Degree in related field with continued progress toward Bachelor's Degree 2 years similar job experience 2 years of business and/or management experience 1-year experience with internet and computer software programs Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, bend, twist, stoop, reach and grasp, walk, push, pull, or lift materials or equipment weighing 15 pounds or mor
