Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures using aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines to aid in accurate diagnoses. Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, grooming, pet care, and maintaining cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental care routines. Handle animal catheterization, IV placement, and other critical care procedures with precision. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and communicate treatment plans clearly to pet owners. Experience Previous kennel experience or hands-on animal handling experience is highly valued. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy enhances your ability to support clinical procedures effectively. Experience in veterinary critical care or emergency settings demonstrates your ability to work under pressure. Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis is preferred. Equine experience or dog training skills are advantageous for working with diverse species or training pets for grooming or handling tasks.
