ADAMS COUNTY Auditor's Office Position Title:Licensing DeputyPosition Number:204Department:AuditorStatus:Union PositionWork Schedule:1,827 annual hours; 35-hour work weekSalary Range:Range A, Courthouse Bargaining Unit Salary Structure Work Location:Ritzville, WA Position SummaryAdams County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Licensing Deputy in the Auditor's Department.This position is responsible for processing vehicle registration renewals, vehicle titles, disabled permits, specialized licenses, and related transactions, while also supporting office operations, deposits, inventory control, and backup recording functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the public at the counter, by phone, and by mail with vehicle, vessel, and related licensing questions and transactions.Receive and reconcile payments, issue receipts, balance daily cash/credit batches, and follow cash-handling policies.Review applications and support documents for completeness, accuracy, and legal sufficiency; identify and correct errors before processing.Process titles, registrations, renewals, and other licensing transactions using state and county computer systems and established procedures.Monitor licensing inventory and order supplies for the Othello Sub-Agent and Ritzville office.Serve as backup for recording duties, including processing legal documents, issuing marriage licenses, receiving payments, preparing daily reports, and balancing fees to cash.Maintain records, files, and logs in an organized and confidential manner; prepare routine reports as required.Provide help and training to new employees and participate in ongoing DOL policy and procedure updates.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent required.Prior public-facing experience preferred and/or one year of office experience preferred.Ability to successfully complete required training and obtain certifications necessary for the position.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of licensing forms and current RCWs and WACs related to licensing work preferred.Strong organizational, customer service, cash-handling, computer, and accuracy skills preferred.Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, adapt to changing priorities, and remain professional in stressful situations.Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired.Physical and Work EnvironmentWork is generally performed indoors in an office setting with frequent interruptions from phones, customers, and staff.The position requires regular standing, walking, reaching, use of hand and finger dexterity, close vision, reading small print, and occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.Salary and Benefits This is a full-time, benefited position which is currently classified at Range A of the 2025 Adams County Employee Salary Schedule range of $19.78 - $25.91 hour.Initial step placement at time of hiring is dependent upon prior relevant experience and qualifications.Fully paid employee benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life.Adams County participates in the Washington State Retirement Fund.
