a/stir is a gluten-free, casually elegant dining kitchen focusing on Northwestern/American contemporary cuisine with influences from Northern Mediterranean (Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Turkey). We offer a welcoming, approachable menu and an unpretentious dining environment with some exciting flavors and great drinks (cider, wine, beer and cocktails) for 65 people in our dining room (and 175 people in our downstairs bar/event space). We are open the following days and times: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 5-10pm Fridays and Saturdays 5-11pm We are seeking a talented and hardworking individual to join the kitchen team. This is a great position for a culinary-passionate person who has a killer work ethic, and a sense of humor. This person would work at every station, learning as they go. We want someone who is interested and willing to learn. This is more important to us than experience. Duties include: Plating food items as ordered, in a timely manner, during service. Performing prep duties as needed. Assisting with kitchen maintenance and care Stepping in to help other stations when needed. Helping with special events and multi-course cider or winemaker dinners. Filling out station PAR lists and completing a daily prep list. Candidates should Have a professional work ethic and strong attention to detail. Be able to multitask and work with sanitation in mind. Have a strong sense of teamwork and humor. Feel comfortable asking questions. Has good knife skills and basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques. A clean as you go state of mind. Qualifications: Culinary education preferred or a current culinary student/recent graduate 3 years kitchen experience required if no formal culinary education Possession of food handlers permit is required Weekend availability is a MUST Compensation: Depends on experience. This position recieves tips, roughly $2-3 per hour in addition to base hourly rate. Again, we are looking for a person who is passionate about cooking and learning more in this industry.
