Duties Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality. Execute food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Assist with menu planning by suggesting creative ideas and ensuring ingredient availability for daily specials. Support the kitchen team during busy periods by managing multiple orders simultaneously with speed and accuracy. Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, including storage, temperature control, and cross-contamination prevention. Collaborate with servers and dietary aides to ensure timely meal service and accommodate special dietary needs. Skills Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a related role within the food service or restaurant industry. Strong knife skills with the ability to efficiently chop, slice, dice, and fillet ingredients. Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices for handling perishable items. Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, catering support, and food presentation techniques. Familiarity with dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
