Job Description
As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for completing all assigned prep work, setting up cook’s station, maintaining product presentations, product quality, cook time standards and preparing all menu items according to Old Chicago’s recipes, plate presentations and specifications. Duties of this position will include set up of equipment, verification of stock, the cleaning of cooking equipment, and preparing food items to specification while maintaining a clean work area. A qualified applicant must have good communication skills, able to lift 25-50 pounds, use knives, slicing and other food preparation equipment while standing and exert well-pace mobility for periods of up to 8 hours in length. Responsibilities Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces) Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff Answer, report and follow executive or sous chefs instructions Clean up station and take care of leftover food Stock inventory appropriately Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers Skills Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks Familiar with industry's best practices Job Type: Full-time Pay: $15 per hour Benefits: Employee Discount Schedule Holidays Night Shift Weekends Pay may depend on skills and/or qualifications Experience restaurant: 1 year (Preferred) Additional Compensation: Store Discounts Work Location: One location Job Duties: Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner Follow recipes and presentation specifications Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment Restock items as needed throughout the shift Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes Work Remotely No Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule Physical Setting: Bar Casual dining restaurant Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred) Experience: Cooking: 1 year (Preferred) Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred) Work Location: In person
