Job Description
Job Summary: The Linehaul Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of freight across long distances, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transportation logistics, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and optimize routes for linehaul operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely delivery of freight. Schedule and assign loads to drivers based on availability, capacity, and delivery requirements. Maintain constant communication with drivers, providing them with necessary information and updates regarding routes, schedules, and any changes. Address and resolve any issues that arise during transit, including delays, equipment breakdowns, and route changes, ensuring minimal disruption to service. Ensure all linehaul operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, route details, and delivery times. Monitor the performance of drivers and transportation equipment, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement. Liaise with customers to provide updates on shipment status, address inquiries, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Use dispatch software and GPS systems to track and manage the movement of freight efficiently. Work closely with other departments, including operations, customer service, and warehouse teams, to coordinate and streamline logistics processes. Prepare and present regular reports on linehaul operations, including performance metrics, delivery times, and any issues encountered. Monitor and manage transportation costs, seeking opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatching or logistics coordination, preferably in linehaul or long-distance transportation. Strong knowledge of transportation logistics and routing principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations. Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
