Job Description
Position Summary A mid-sized law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to support partner-level attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice. The ideal candidate will bring at least four years of litigation support experience, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple active matters with competing deadlines. Responsibilities Prepare, edit, proofread, and format litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence E-file documents in Illinois state courts, appellate courts, and federal courts in compliance with applicable rules and deadlines Maintain litigation calendars and track all court-ordered and internal deadlines, including scheduling and briefing timelines Assist with all phases of discovery, including document production and preparation of templates and shells for pleadings and discovery Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and attorney/client meetings Support trial preparation, including organization of trial materials and exhibit binders Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files and document management systems Review and process attorney time entries for accuracy and completion Provide administrative support such as calendar management, scheduling, and routine correspondence Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and external vendors Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Qualifications Minimum of four years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firm Strong working knowledge of Illinois state and federal court filing procedures Experience with electronic filing systems across multiple jurisdictions Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems Excellent grammar, proofreading, and document formatting skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines High level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
