Physician Assistant | Surgery - General/Other Location: Lexington, KY Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position Exciting Opportunity for a Skilled Locum Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery in Lexington, KY Are you a dedicated Physician Assistant with a passion for cardiothoracic surgery seeking an impactful temporary role? Join our team at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY, and make a difference by supporting our surgical and inpatient teams during a critical staffing period. What You'll Do: Assist in complex cardiothoracic surgeries, including CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy/lung resection cases Perform OR duties such as vein harvest, chest tube placement, and other surgical procedures Maintain patient care on telemetry and ICU units Participate in call coverage, including 1-2 call days per week and 1 weekend per month, with rotations including inpatient rounds, procedures, and surgeries Support the surgical team seamlessly while adhering to established protocols and standards Required Skills: Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with valid licensure in Kentucky Proficient in first assisting in cardiothoracic surgeries, including CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomies Demonstrated experience in OR, ICU, and telemetry settings Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to handle call duties effectively and manage multiple responsibilities Nice to Have Skills: Experience with thoracotomy and lung resection procedures Familiarity with Epic EMR system Prior locum or temporary staffing experience in a hospital setting Preferred Education and Experience: Master's degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies Minimum of 2 years of cardiac surgery assistance experience preferred Current BLS and ACLS certification Other Requirements: Must possess a valid Kentucky medical license and be able to perform procedures without restrictions No malpractice issues or licensing barriers Ability to start by May 3, 2026, and commit through June 13, 2026, with critical dates June 6-8, 2026 Willingness to work scheduled weekends, call shifts, and be flexible with rotating hours Travel preferences include local housing arrangements with preferred hotels, with no extensive travel required Take this chance to elevate your career while supporting a dedicated surgical team.
