This assignment places physicians within a large, highly structured anesthesia department supporting a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center with extensive surgical capabilities. Providers will collaborate with a robust CRNA team within a care team model while maintaining opportunities for direct case involvement. Assignment Overview Location: Pensacola, Florida Contract Type: Anesthesiologist Locum Tenens Coverage Need: Ongoing Practice Model: Anesthesia Care Team CRNAs: Extensive anesthesia team providing case coverage under anesthesiologist supervision. EMR: Cerner Physician involvement in direct case management averages approximately 20 percent personally performed anesthesia care. Facility Snapshot Regional Referral Hospital Total Hospital Beds: 582 ICU Beds: 40 Trauma Designation: Level I Adult Trauma Center Level I Pediatric Trauma Center Anesthesia Locations: 39 anesthetizing sites This facility supports a large surgical program serving the Florida Panhandle and Gulf Coast region. Surgical Case Mix Anesthesiologists support a broad tertiary-care surgical program including: General Surgery Orthopedics and Total Joints Bariatric Surgery ENT Urology Spine Surgery Plastics Endoscopy Dental / OMFS Interventional Radiology Major Vascular Thoracic procedures Trauma surgery Pediatric surgical cases Obstetrics including high-risk deliveries Annual procedural volumes include: Inpatient Surgical Cases: 10,700+ Outpatient Surgical Cases: 13,500+ Ambulatory Surgery Center Cases: 4,100+ Non-Operating Room Procedures: 1,700+ Dedicated cardiac anesthesia teams typically manage cardiac surgical cases. Schedule Structure Multiple coverage shifts are utilized within the department, including: Day shifts Evening coverage Night coverage Weekend coverage Call responsibilities may include 12-hour call coverage depending on departmental needs. Clinical Responsibilities Provide anesthesia care across multiple procedural areas including OR suites, trauma rooms, interventional suites, and obstetrics. Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs within a care team model. Support trauma and emergency surgical services when required. Participate in high-acuity surgical programs within a tertiary referral center. Ensure accurate documentation within Cerner EMR. Candidate Requirements Board Certified Anesthesiologist Active Florida Medical License ACLS and BLS certifications required Experience practicing within a care team model preferred Comfort managing complex cases in a trauma center environment Experience with pediatric anesthesia strongly preferred Experience with high-risk obstetric anesthesia preferred Additional Assignment Requirement Providers must reside outside a 45-mile / one-hour radius from the facility to qualify for this locum assignment.
